What would it be like for you to be in Lieng's shoes for a day?
The article I am reflecting on is about a medical student in Cambodia. I believe that what the medical student 'Lieng' did, was amazing and brave. If I was in her shoes for a day I would struggle, as I live in a first world country where we are able to do what we like and don't have to worry about being run by a dictator.
I would find it hard to deal with no family to support me and be by my side. Having the determination that Lieng had, would help me move forward. I would definitely have gone through with going through medical school as there was need of more doctors. But overall what Lieng went through was harsh and being able to make good decisions and to not give up was amazing of her.
Being Australia means we will never have to experience what people in Cambodia go through, most of us don't even think of half of what happens in Cambodia. Being aware of what happens over in Cambodia helps people in first world countries realise what they have and to be thankful of all the opportunities open to them.
